Richard Shockley

I purchased the Polar RS800CX PTE this year and have used it mainly on my road bike, attaching cadence and speed sensors. I also have the G3 GPS sensor so I can easily account for my training time on my other bikes without having to attach additional sensors. The GPS option also helps me create routing maps with Google Earth when I explore numerous mountain passes here in Japan. I transmit all my data into my computer using the ProTrainer software, making it easy to visualize my accomplishments and improvements throughout the season with the many charts provided. I also customized some charts to give me additional information. I can even see the amount of coasting time I have during a ride, which I’m now working to reduce. Polar has greatly enhanced my ability to set and achieve new training goals that I have never been able to attain prior to owning a Polar HR monitor. This past summer I have logged over 5000 km and reduced my weight from 84kg to 70kg! I have easily increased the distance and speed I’m able to cycle and have completed more 100 km rides than all my previous years of cycling. The multi sports capabilities of the RS 800 even have me thinking of buying a pair of running shoes for off-season training. Who knows, a triathlon might be in my future!
