I started training in March this year after 40 years of a packet a day habit. On my 64th birthday I ran teh City2Surf in Sydney and achieved 1hr 50m and I'm extatic that I ran most of the course and I finished.I ran on the heart rate monitor of my Polar RS100 and with a max rate of 165 and recovered down to 140.I owe my success to my Polar as it is an invaluable aid to my perormance.
