Allyson Manley-Grant

After 25 years of negelcting my health, blaming shift work and just buying a bigger size in clothes, I decided in 2000 that enough was enough. My mother had just been dignosed with Type II diabetes, my now husband proposed, my surgeon said that he would be taking out my kneecaps in a few years, and I had cracked the 85kg mark! How many more reasons did I need? So with some diet help, and gentle exercise, I lost 8kg, then another 8kg and within 12 months I had lost 25kgs.What have I done with my new health? I became a netballer and at age 32 was recruited into a Representative Team. I now run everywhere, whern I would sit on the couch and eat chips and chocolate. My goal is to do my next 10km run in under 48 minutes. I ride my bike. I started Triathlons as a way to keep fit during netball off-season. I live, I have my kneecaps, I'm happy and healthy.
